5 Street Foods You Need to Try on Your Travels
Since selling my car and buying a one-way ticket to Australia, I have seen the world in all of its beauty and truly caught the adventure bug! I have tried to visit some of the most incredible destinations on earth, and I have been able to witness a change in myself as I travel further and further out of my comfort zone. Of course, going out of your comfort zone doesn’t have to be a bad thing! Without popping that little bubble I would have never been able to try out these amazing street foods that have genuinely made my travel experiences so much better…
1. Pad Thai in Thailand
There’s a high chance that you’ve eaten Pad Thai before in your life, but have you ever tried authentic Pad Thai from the streets of Thailand? According to 1Cover, and I totally agree, the real deal is so much better than anything you could find outside of Thailand, and it’s also so much cheaper! Bowls of Pad Thai line the streets, and for just a few coins you could be filling your stomach with something that is sour, sweet, and totally mouth-watering. There’s nothing quite like traditional Pad Thai from the home of Pad Thai.
2. Halo-halo in the Philippines

Halo-halo is one of the most intriguing street foods I have ever experienced in my life. It was strangely delicious! This dish can be found on the streets of the Philippines and is almost like an ice cream sundae. The bulk of this dish is evaporated and shaved ice, and then it is finished with toppings of your choice – from sweet potato to cherries, to kidney beans, and more. You can choose to have a sweet Halo-Halo or go for something a bit more random. Either way, it’s yummy.
3. Currywurst in Germany
You can’t go to Germany without trying one of their famous Currywurst. You will never have to travel too far to smell the familiar smells of a Currywurst truck in Germany. People will gladly wait in line to try out this steamed pork sausage topped with curry ketchup for hours on end. Normally, this dish will be served in a bun, with a side of fries, and on a plastic plate. Although others have tried to replicate this amazing dish, nothing comes close to the real thing. You could even visit the dedicated Deutsches Currywurst Museum if you like it that much!
4. Crepes in France
Let’s be honest, the food in France is second to none. Although many people get confused by the difference between the French crepe and the pancake, these two foods couldn’t be more different if they tried. You never normally have to walk too far to find a Crepe stand in France, and you can almost always choose your toppings. Sweet or savory? The choice is yours! I always go for my favorite, because you really can’t go wrong with Nutella and hazelnuts…
5. Chivito Al Pan in Uruguay
