20 Photos that Will Make You Pack Your Bags and Go to Indonesia
Famous for it’s white sandy beaches, surfing, rich cultural heritage, wildlife, incredible landscapes, and affordable prices, Indonesia has become one of the world’s most famous tourist destinations. The country spreads between the Indian and Pacific oceans, counting more than 17000 islands!
Whether you are an adventure seeker, surfer, yogi, beach fan, food lover, or a city enthusiast, Indonesia has it all!
First time, I had the pleasure to visit Indonesia two years ago, and I completely fell in love in this country. Since then, I came back two more times to explore more islands.
So, why do I love Indonesia?
I will start with a place that do not need any introduction – Bali. I experienced the real and authentic island on my motorbike. From the magical rice fields, ancient temples, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud, surfers paradise in Uluwatu, ancient Hindu temple Tanah Lot to great beach spots like Seminyak, Balangan and Padang Padang. The second and third time back, I wanted more and more!
I also stayed for a while on the small island surrounded by crystal clear water and white sand. Tailana Island is a part of Banyak Islands archipelago and it is situated about 30km from Singkil, Sumatra. The whole archipelago counts 99 mostly uninhabited islands located in short distances in the Indian Ocean. My journey took 25 hours to get there by train, bus and 2 boats. No electricity, no restaurants, no shops and only 5 local people. Sounds insane hm?
I was lucky enough to visit Yogyakarta and see the breathtaking sunrise at Mount Bromo. My dreams came true when I visited the world’s largest Buddhist temple Borobudur and discovered the Hindu temple Prambanan in Central Java.
On my last trip to Indonesia, I explored Sumatra, an island of stunning nature, extraordinary beauty and wildlife. I visited the giant Sipiso-Piso Waterfall located in a small village called Tongging. I learned more about the Batak culture and how people live around the Lake Toba. If you want to experience the beautiful scenery of the Karo Highlands, I recommend use a motorbike.
From Lombok I also took a trip to the nearest Gili Trawangan Island known as a backpackers mecca and party paradise. The place is filled with good vibes and summer atmosphere all year long. If you are looking for diving, snorkeling, sun bathing and parting, this is a place for you.
If you’re still unconvinced, here is my collection of best pictures of Indonesia that will make you pack your backpack and visit Indonesia.
