Imagine to get lost in the middle of the giant labyrinth with tall walls and all made by snow! Sounds unbelievable? Put on a warm jacket and gloves, I am taking you to the biggest ice maze in the World!
Just few minutes walk from the Great Krokiew in Zakopane is located the Snowlandia full of fun and magic!
The giant ice labyrinth first stood in 2015/2016 winter season and right away was considered as the most unique attraction in Zakopane. The incredible construction is made of thousands of independent ice blocks leaning on each other. They are polished to fit without an additional supporting structure. This year, it covers around 3000 square meters land and it is 500 meters bigger than a year before.
The construction is a quite challenge for 50 specialized builders and mountaineers, who need to prepare 60 thousands of snow blocks to build the entire maze. It takes around one month to prepare and build the complete composition. In addition, the weather can be tricky during the winter season in Poland. The temperature can rise suddenly and bring lots of additional work or completely melt the construction.
The structure was designed by Darek Pytlik and Artur Haber. They want to break the Guinness Record hold by the Arctic Ice Maze at Buffalo Powder Keg Festival in Buffalo, New York from February 2010.
Apart from the snow labyrinth, Snowlandia has the castle where you can admire ice sculptures and enjoy the view of the Tatra National Park and the Great Krokiew. There is also the Palace of the Snow Queen carved from blocks of ice, as well as a huge track and a mini zoo for kids.
The entry ticket 18 zl (4 euro) per person. The price can be lower for families and kids. If you want to read more about this spectacular ice labyrinth in Poland, visit an official website of the Snowland.
