6 Most Spectacular Waterfalls in Bohol, Philippines
If you think Bohol in the Philippines is only about the Chocolate Hills and tarsiers, it’s time to change your perspective a little bit.
Bohol is a land blessed with plenty of gorgeous waterfalls and natural pools stretched across the island. With a little help from local friends, I discovered some of the most spectacular ones, but are still little known in Bohol.
Here is a list of my favorite swimming waterfalls in Bohol that provide some of the most ideal spots for cliff jumping, cliff climbing, bathing, and even rope swinging.
1. Kinahugan Waterfalls
As the golden sun was rising lazily in the east, we were lucky enough to stand in the front of one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Bohol. Located just 5km from Jagna town, Kinahugan Falls became one of my favorite falls in Bohol. The cliff is about 15 m high and 5 m deep. Fun fact is that the Kinahugan waterfall is actually three separate waterfalls stretching along a rocky wall covered by misty magical moss. Paradise!
Location: Sitio Karap-agan, Brgy, Jagna, Bohol
2. Pahangog Waterfalls
Well known as the Twin Falls, Pahanhog Falls is my favorite waterfalls in Bohol! When we arrived at the this magical waterfall, there wasn’t even a single soul around. A place truly forgotten in the normally ever-lasting memory of time. We were amazed by the waterfall viewing area with naturally blue clear water, bamboo bridges and palms hanging over the water.
I heard that the Twin Falls can get a bit crowded, especially during the high season, so we were very lucky, seeing this slice of paradise all to yourselves. To reach the waterfalls, you need to walk down hundreds of stairs, but it is definitely worth the effort. Trust me.
Location: Guingoyuran, Dimiao, Bohol
3. Kawasan Waterfalls
Cascading down from an enormous height, Kawasan Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in Bohol. There is nothing more refreshing on a hot day than jumping into a natural pool. Kawasan Falls is absolutely perfect for a swim and a refreshing bath. It located in Candasig, only 20km away from Tagbilaran City.
Location: Candasig, Balilihan, Bohol
4. Pangas Waterfalls
Pangas Falls is situated in Bilar, a beautiful countryside of Bohol. It takes about 15 mins ride to get there from the main road, passing through some of the most scenic rice fields. This is a perfect spot to have a blast with your family or friends, as there are plenty of small huts to have a picnic and relax on the weekend. Or you can choose to contemplate on life looking at the green magical nature. Your choice.
There is also a rope hanging from one side to the other of the waterfall, so you can walk on it, jump and have so much fun!
Location: Bilar, Bohol
5. Ingkumhan Waterfalls
Ingkumhan Falls is reachable by little trek downhill from the nearest village in Dimiao.
It is surrounded by a lush green forest, rocky moss and vines making this place a picture-perfect hideaway. Get ready to be popular on Instagram with these shots.
It is said that the falls hide a magical underwater cave, which makes this place even more unique. It is a well-known location among locals, who enjoy weekends here. There is a rope swing hanging from a majestic tree, which makes cliff jumping all the more fun!
Location: Barangay Bauhugan, Dimiao, Bohol
6. Niligidan Waterfalls
Niligidan is probably the most unknown waterfalls in Bohol. Hidden deep in the jungle, it is also quite difficult to reach. The hike downhill is pretty steep, so be careful, as you make your way down. If you are adventurous, you can jump off the cliffs, as the natural pool is very deep. You can also climb the waterfall and reach the top to bath in natural water holes surrounded by lush green forest. What do you call such a perfect place…hmm..maybe paradise?
