20 Photos to Inspire You to Travel to Cuba
Cuba is a vibrant island that perfectly blends Spanish, African, French and Asian cultures. A well-known sea-facing capital, Havana, is an absolutely unique place to visit in Cuba. It is a city full of life, history, music, and avant-garde art. Walking through the Old Havana’s cobblestone streets, meeting friendly locals and soaking up the culture, was a truly unforgettable experience for me.
Cuban music can be heard all over in Cuba’s night clubs, restaurants and streets, so it just makes your feet dance to the rhythm. You feel the vibrant energy from the people and the city itself. There is a bunch of rooftop bars spread across the city, where you can enjoy the vibrant music with a mojito in your hand! Remember to give a try to a local special like ceviche, a fresh fish marinated in citrus.
After spending few days in vibrant Havana, I decided to discover the Western part of the country. I reached Viñales, a home to World’s famous tobacco farms and limestone mogote hills. The town offers numerous of live music spots, paladares with local food and shops set along the main street. However, outside of the busy city, you can find very relaxed and low-key atmosphere.
I had the pleasure to discover Cuban tobacco plantations on the horseback. The tour took about 4 hours through the most incredible local farms, coffee plantations and limestone hills. It was a great opportunity to learn more about traditional cigar-making methods, the history of Cuban cigars and a tobacco production in Cuba.
Next one on my list was the city of Trinidad, one of the most romantic and charming locations in Cuba! This well-preserved, colonial city located in the southern-central coast of Cuba is a perfect place to just relax and learn more about Cuba.
A great discovery was a Boca de Camarioca, a small fishing village in the province of Matanzas. This off the beaten track destination offers very authentic Cuban vibes. If are willing to escape popular tourist spots, like for example a neighboring Varadero, this is a place for you. Boca de Camarioca is a place to go local and experience an authentic Cuban life!
Whether you’re into Cuban salsa classes, first-rate cigars or just looking for the sun, Cuba is the place you can’t miss!
