10 Best Holiday Destinations in India
India – a land of contrast. From gorgeous beaches on the West coast to the snow covered mountain peaks of the Himalayas. India became one of my favorite countries in the World.
With it’s mix of cultures, it’s sacred temples, gorgeous white sand beaches, incredible and rich wildlife, delicious food and welcoming people, India attracts lots of visitors from all over the World.
I have to admit that the trip was as wonderful and inspiring as challenging for me. But still the time spent on this gorgeous land became my most meaningful in 2018. India is extraordinary and there is something truly mystical that makes me visit this country again and again.
Here is a list of my 10 best holiday destinations in India, which are definitely my favorite ones.
1. Varkala
Located in Southern India, Varkala is one of the best holiday destinations in India. The city’s most recognizable spot is Varkala Cliff, where you can admire the most scenic setting in this area.
This is a unique and the only place in Kerala, where the white sand coast spreads along the high stretch of cliff. Here, you can find plenty of restaurants and cafes, shops with local products, spices and even traditional Tibetan crafts and arts. If you are looking for more quite spaces, visit the Black Sand beach or Kappil beach, where the time seems to pass more slowly.
2. Hampi
This little town became one of my favorite places in India. Located in the shadowed depth of magnificent ruins, Hampi stands out from the crowd. And it is not just about the ancient ruins, it is also about the mystical atmosphere and gorgeous landscapes. There is a sense that time trickles slower here, in this majestic city of Gods.
3. Arambol, Goa
Looking for the perfect location in Goa? Arambol can delight you with it’s gorgeous beaches, colorful markets and tasty food. It is a laid-back, fisherman village located in North Goa. A land filled with Bohemian vibes and tranquil atmosphere attracts a large number of tourists every year. The main street is filled with stalls, where vendors sell unique Indian goods from clothes, jewelry, dream catchers, local instruments to the most colorful blankets and scarves. This is a place to slow down and fully enjoy your holiday break!
4. Kodaikanal
Kodaikanal is a perfect destination for those who enjoy hiking and outdoor activities. This little town located 2,133 meters above sea level in the state of Tami Nadu, provides unforgettable experiences all year long. From stunning Berijam Lake, spectacular Pillar Rock, mystical Dolphin’s Nose to the secret Poombarai village, Kodaikanal is a bright spot on the map! Feel the cool breeze and fresh air and spend your best dreamy holiday in Kodaikanal hills.
5. Gokarna
Gokarna is one of the dream places to visit in India. It offers a dizzying mix of gorgeous secluded beaches, sacred temples and natural scenery. This little charming town located on the Arabian Sea is a place to spend some moments in peace and immerse yourself in a new culture. Hike through the jungle to discover secret beaches like Paradise beach and Half Moon beach.

6. Jaipur
Famed for it’s rich history, outstanding architecture and colorful markets, Jaipur is a top tourist destination in India. It is known as the Pink City, for its pretty rose buildings spread over the city center. Jaipur is also a great gateway for shopping Indian arts and craft made of natural stones, silver, marble and ivory. Wonder through the gorgeous Pink City to soak up the culture and discover Jaipur’s best Hindu temples. One of my favorite is Hawa Mahal, also known, as the Palace of Winds. This gorgeous building was constructed in 1799 to allow the royal ladies to watch the local life in the city.

7. Bhagsu
Bhagsu is a tranquil, little village located 2km uphill from McLeodganj, the residence of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Here, you can explore beautiful mountain scenery, chase waterfalls and spend time in peace with yourself. During your stay, you can also improve your yoga practice, meditate, try a Reiki healing therapy or start a Pranayama course. This is a place to stay close to nature, nourishing yourself with all healthy foods and practice spiritual self care.
8. Rishikesh
The world’s yoga capital. The holy place, with its no-meat and no-alcohol allowed rules, attracts plenty of travelers willing to practice yoga and meditation. Here, 50 years ago, the Beatles came here to stay in peace. Inspired by this place, they wrote 48 songs including Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except Me, My Monkey and Dear Prudence. And on top of all of that, Rishikesh is a land blessed with natural beauty and incredible landscapes, where the words live in harmony with nature become more meaningful. 🙏

9. Manali
Sitting in the middle of beautiful Kullu valley, Manali is one of the most attractive hill stations in Himachal Pradesh. I remember the moment when I laid my eyes on the majestic hills covered with pine and surrounded by snow-capped mountains. I was amazed by the beauty. Here, the Mother Nature is generous.
The prime highlights of Manali include stunning Sollang Valley, Rohtang Pass, Hidimba Temple and sacred Vashisht village.
It is also a hot spot for sport and outdoor enthusiasts. Here, adventure junkies can try everything from mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, rafting, rock climbing, paragliding and riverside camping!

10. Alappuzha
Welcome to the Kerala’s most charming city. Alappuzha, also known as the Venice of the East, is one of the best places to visit in South India. Why? Well…
Alappuzha is not only another beautiful city located on the East Coast, but also it stands out for its exotic backwaters. It offers attractive boat cruises to Kollam along the spectacular Vembanad Lake. The endless canals lined with coconut trees, magical bridges and white sand beaches make this place a perfect holiday spot in India.
