Ayurveda and Yoga Course in Rishikesh
Since I left my home to travel the World, learning new things become more significant and meaningful for me.
I swung on lianas in the Amazon jungle and practiced meditation in the Buddhist temple in Thailand. Then, I lived with indigenous people in Ecuador and I learned how to surf in Indonesia. I volunteered in the North of Thailand and became a certificated scuba diver in Colombia. I traveled solo with my backpack across Asia, Oceania, Europe, Central and South America.
Travel is a great way to not only learn new things and immerse yourself in a new culture – it also provides a constant urge to continue learning.
All those experiences had a huge impact in my life. Seriously, even the lianas! I have an extreme fear of heights and when I faced it, I realized that it is just a figment of my imagination.
Two moths ago, I came to India, not only to try the best Indian food, see the greatest Himalayas or ride a camel in the desert of Jaisalmer, but also to experience something truly spiritual. When I reached Rishikesh, I knew that I will stay longer. My spiritual but also physical health become more significant for me. I decided to deepen my understanding of Ayurvedic massage and improve my yoga skills to get closer with myself, focus on my needs, feelings and spiritual growth.
To be honest with you, I spent a couple of days searching, reading reviews and visiting different Ayurveda Institutes in Rishikesh to choose the right place. There are plenty of offers in the city, but it takes time to find the right and professional place.
So, after the whole time, I came across an amazing place in Rishikesh and I want to share with you my experience!
The Ayuskama Ayurveda Institute and Panchakarma Center is known as one of the leading Ayurveda schools in Northern India. It offers courses in Ayurveda medicine including diagnosis, disease management, herbs, Panchakarma, Ayurveda massage therapies and Ayurveda nutrition courses.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest and most powerful mind-body medical systems. I love to call it, a science of life. Ayurvedic medicine is based on a variety of products and practices, which help people to stay healthy, strong and lively. When you know your mind-body type, you can make smarter choices regarding your diet, medicines, exercises and daily life. It is believed that our wellness depends on a balance between the body, mind and spirit.
The Ayuskama Ayurveda Institute offers short and long term Ayurveda courses. Short term courses include Ayurveda Massage course, Ayurveda marma therapy, Ayurveda stress management and Ayurveda nutrition and cooking course. Long term courses include 4-week Ayurveda for beginners course and diploma course in Ayurveda health care which lasts 10 weeks.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to attend the long term course, but I was also happy with the short one. In my training, I learned the traditional way of Ayurveda massage, which requires to go deeper then just to a physical level. It needs to cover the mental side as well, since it is a healing process on all levels.
I was trained by dr. Vinod Kumar, an Ayurveda consultant and Panchakarma Specialist with different assignments in Ayurveda hospitals. He has 15 years of experience of teaching Ayurveda and yoga philosophy, anatomy and physiology for yoga studies.
To deepen the experience, you can combine the Ayurvedic knowledge with yoga practice. The Institute also offers an Ayurveda Yoga Teacher Training Course 200 hr. It is a special course designed for those, who want to learn Yoga and Ayurveda together in an authentic way. It is an intensive program, which includes both Yoga and Ayurveda theory and practical session. After completion of this course, you will get two certificates. The first one for yoga teacher (registered with Yoga alliance USA) and another one for one month Ayurveda course. After all, you will know how you can combine Ayurveda and Yoga in therapeutic way.
