Nestled in the heart of the spectacular Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park is Canada’s first national park. It attracts millions of visitors every year with its turquoise glacial lakes, endless outdoor attractions, majestic mountains and wildlife. I recently just spent three weeks in the Banff National Park and I could recommend this place to every solo traveler!
It is probably one of the most beautiful national parks, I have ever seen. Here is a list of 10 best attractions in Banff National Park.
1. Moraine Lake
When first time I stood in the front of the stunning Moraine Lake, I had tears in my eyes. Is this even real? – I thought.
The impossibly turquoise waters of Moraine Lake with its dazzling surroundings attracts flocks of tourists every day. Hike up the Rockpile to get the best picture-postcard views of the Valley of the Ten Peaks.
Canoeing here is probably one of the most coolest attractions in Banff National Park and it costs 120 CAD per hour.
2. Lake Louise
After visiting Moraine Lake, I thought that nothing can’t really beat this place. However, I quickly changed my mind as soon as I reached Lake Louise – another incredibly beautiful natural wonder of Banff! Lake Louise is turquoise, glacier-fed lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks and some of the best hiking trails in Banff. With its unique location, it is a paradise for hikers, water sport enthusiasts and skiers.
You can also visit or even stay for a night at picturesque Fairmont Chateau that offers luxurious facilities and breathtaking views of Lake Louise.
3. Banff Upper Hot Springs
How to spend a perfect day in Banff? Eat good breakfast, go to the mountains and then take a long soak in the hot springs! Banff Upper Hot Springs is one of the most popular attractions in Banff town for a reason! Thermal pools are known to have internal and external properties. Moreover, there is nothing quite more relaxing like the long bath in hot mineral waters after a long day on the trail. Plus the view of snow-capped peaks!

4. Banff Gondola
When creating a list of top things to do in Banff National Park, I couldn’t forget about Banff gondola – a top-rated attraction in town! It offers breathtaking panoramic views of six mountain ranges and reaches the top of Sulphur Mountain.
At the top, just take a deep breath and admire massive peaks reach into the sky.
5. Town of Banff
Vibrant and charming, with the view of majestic and rugged mountains, it’s no wonder town of Banff is the heart of Banff National Park. One thing is really enjoyed in Banff was wandering down the main street at the evening. With plenty of places to shop and eat, I couldn’t get enough.
6. Two Jack Lake
Located between Minnewanka and Johnson Lake, Two Jack is another great place, I recommend to visit during your stay in Banff. If you are traveling by camper, there is an attractive camping ground which offers lots of space for picnic with mountain views and access to the lake. What a perfect place to spend the night!

9. Lake Agnes
Apart from being jaw-droppingly beautiful, Lake Agnes took me by surprise! The water is crystal clear green and it creates a lovely mirror-like reflection. The trail is easy to follow and it takes 1-2 hours/one way. At the top, you can relax in small, wooden tea house located just next to the lake.
10. Lake Minnewanka
When I first heard that Lake Minnewanka was once a bustling summer resort, I couldn’t believe it. How is it even possible?
Well, not many people know that this whole area was once flooded in 1912. Today, Minnewanka lake is a popular place for picnic, fishing and pleasant time with family and friends.
It is also the only place in Banff National Park, where boats with motors are allowed.
